Advance Book Repair - Sep 7th 2024
Saturday September 7th
10:00-3:00pm
In this workshop students will build upon the skills learned the Beginning Book Repair class. It’s not required, but suggested that students first take the beginning class, if you have questions or concerns please reach out via the contact page.
This class will primarily focus on spine repair. We will remove and clean old spine material, build a new spine with toned cloth and reattach this to the book.
skills covered:
-assessing book for repair
-toning cloth
-building of new spine material
-clean spine, removing old liner/make new spine liners
-assessment of endbands/headbands and rebuilding if necessary
-reattaching original spine material
-repairing outer book hinge and toning mend
In this class you are welcome to bring a book from home to repair if it has a damaged spine in need of repair. Please email me prior to the start of class so I can assess if it will be appropriate to mend during this workshop. Otherwise all materials, and books will be provided in the class.
